Here's the Dumb Replacement for the LeBron Banner

Posted By on Fri, Sep 7, 2018 at 9:26 AM

Cavs CEO Len Komorowski this morning appeared before the Cleveland Planning Commission to publicly share the proposed replacement for the LeBron banner on the side of the Sherwin Williams building.

It is dumb, but that didn't stop the commission from roundly applauding and approving the design, which features a closeup of one of the Guardian statues along with the phrase "All for the Land," and a script Cleveland logo.

The actual Guardian statues themselves are just a few blocks away, it should be noted, which didn't stop the braintrust from thinking that people would want to look at a picture of what they can see in person instead.

Thousands of crowd-sourced photos from Clevelanders and Cavs fans will make up the mosaic image of the Guardian in the final product, Komorowski told the assembled crew of unimaginative officials. (More info on how to submit photos to this monstrosity here, if you're interested.)

"God bless the guitar," quipped councilman Kerry McCormack during the meeting, "but I'm glad we're getting away from it."

Judging by initial reactions on social media, no one outside of the room is a fan of the idea. "They managed to come up with something worse than a blank wall," wrote one observer who speaks for us all.
