Bob Evans Farms has issued a recall on nearly 47,000 pounds of pork sausage links thanks to a potential hard plastic contamination, U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported on Thursday.

The items have establishment number "EST 6785" and were sold in Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin and Ohio. Fortunately, the Food and Safety Inspection Service says there are no confirmed reports of any injuries.

The 12-ounce trays subject to recall are labeled as follows, and do contain supermarket brand "generic alternatives" that are in fact, produced by Bob Evans farms:
  • - “BOB EVANS MAPLE PORK SAUSAGE LINKS.” These products contain a Use by date of Oct. 16, 2018 or Oct. 19, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213.
  • - “BOB EVANS BROWN SUGAR & HONEY.” These products contain a Use by date of Oct. 16, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213.
  • - “FRESH FROM MEIJER MAPLE FLAVORED SAUSAGE LINKS.” These products contain a Use by date of Sept. 06, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213.
  • - “GIANT EAGLE MAPLE PORK BREAKFAST SAUSAGE LINKS CARAMEL COLOR ADDED.” These products contain a Use by date of Sept. 10, 2018, and Lot Code of 8213.
  • - “SCHNUCKS MAPLE RECIPE BREAKFAST SAUSAGE.” These products contain a Lot Code of 8213.
  • FSIS is concerned that some of the contaminated products may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Those who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. The sausage links should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

The problem was discovered when the establishment received consumer complaints of extraneous material in the pork sausage products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact their healthcare provider.

Those with questions may send inquires to consumer relations for Bob Evans Farms, Inc. at 1-800-939-2338.
