Locally based horror filmmaker, Eddie Lengyel regularly releases movies on his Fright Teck Pictures.

The latest such flick, American Poltergeist: The Curse of Lilith Ratchet, centers on a woman and her friend who put a curse into motion after they acquire a shrunken head. They take the thing to a paranormal podcast host who helps them determine its identity, and they subsequently unleash a dead woman’s evil spirit in the process.

Cinematographer Greg Kraus shot the film on a RED camera in 6k at locations in Cleveland and Akron.

The movie makes its world premiere at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at Atlas Cinemas Lakeshore 7 in Euclid. Tickets are $10. The evening will include games and raffle prizes, including a $50 Atlas Cinemas Gift Card.

The DVD will be available on Walmart in 2019, and the film is currently being shopped at the American Film Market (AFM) for worldwide distribution.

With events on hold, and no print distribution for the foreseeable future, every little bit helps.

A free press means accountability and a well-informed public, and we want to keep our unique and independent reporting available for many, many years to come.

If quality journalism is important to you, please consider a donation to Scene. Every reader contribution is valuable and so appreciated, and goes directly to support our coverage of critical issues and neighborhood culture. Thank you.
