Update: Designated as warming centers in the past, Collinwood Recreation Center, Lonnie Burton Recreation Center, Zelma Watson George Recreation Center and Michael Zone Recreation Center are not currently offering extended or overnight hours. The city of Cleveland has yet to designate any warming centers, though that is subject to change.

The RTA, however, is keeping several enclosed stations open for 24 hours through Thursday night (fares and schedules will not be affected), including:
- Southgate Transit Center, 5491 Warrensville Center Rd., Maple Heights
- Westgate Transit Center, 21159 Center Ridge Rd., Fairview Park
- Parma Transit Center, 8750 Day Drive, Parma
- West 117 Station on the Red Line, 11631 Madison Ave.
- Louis Stokes/Windermere Station on the Red Line, 14232 Euclid Ave., East Cleveland

Several more sites have opened their doors to anyone in need:
- Covenant Community Church, 3342 East 119th St, 216-561-5990, open 3 p.m. on Wednesday
-Lakewood United Methodist Church, 15700 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, 216-226-8644, open 6 p.m. Tuesday to noon Friday, at the Detroit Entrance
- Metanoia Project, 2459 Washington Ave., 216-298-9108, open from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day this week
- University Settlement, 4800 Broadway Ave., 216-641-8948, open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, and Friday if CMSD is closed

Additionally, Cuyahoga County has a list of community centers that may be open as warming centers and recommends calling ahead to confirm.

(Original post 1/28/2019): The temperature in Cleveland is set to drop into the negatives this week, the coldest it's been this winter. As a result, the city of Cleveland has issued an extreme cold weather advisory and there are several designated "warm centers," which offer shelter to any resident in need.

The following have been designated as warming centers, but do not yet have operating hours: Collinwood Recreation Center (16300 Lakeshore Blvd., 216-420-8323) and Lonnie Burton Recreation Center (2511 East 46th St., 216-664-4139).

Zelma Watson George Recreation Center (3155 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., 216-420-8821) and Michael Zone Recreation Center (6301 Lorain Ave., 216-664-3373) have been warm centers in the past and may open as the weather becomes more severe.

Many local shelters will remain open and operational as scheduled until further notice, including:
-St. Augustine Hunger Center, 2486 West 14th St., 216-781-5530
-Next Step Shelter for Youth, 3020 West 104th St., 216-941-0062
-Noma Herr Women’s Shelter, 2227 Payne Ave., 216-479-0020 (women)
-Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, 2100 Lakeside Ave., 216-566-0047 (men)

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
