Bop Stop to Host a David Bowie Tribute in May

[image-2] Through visual art and music, Cleveland artist Jeff Ritchie (aka Fredpaints) will pay tribute to the late, great David Bowie with A Lad Insane, a show that celebrates Bowie as an artist and muse.

The event takes place on May 9 at the Bop Stop.

The art and music featured in the show will be used by Fredpaints to “express [my] own psychological path and feelings about his persona in the world.”

Many of the exhibits will be interactive and allow the viewer to participate in the show. In addition to the gallery show, there will be a performance celebrating the music of David Bowie.

“I am creating an entire art show of paintings and drawings that will include some interactive pieces and pieces that the guests will be able to actually touch or interact with in some way," says Ritchie in a press release about the show. "The theme of the show is 'persona,' and I am using Bowie as a tool to express my own ideas of the masks we where and the personas we create in the world. At the same time, it will be a celebration of the characters and art of Bowie himself."

Local acts Pale Hollow, Dark Matter Drive, the Battle and Teasebox are slated to perform.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Music Settlement.
