"It's big, it's teal ... and this summer, it gets real!" Hell yes.

Cuyahoga Community College's new triceratops mascot now has a name. More than 1,000 respondents in a community poll this month selected "STOMP" as their favorite option among five, which also included Tank, Tricky, Trike and Spikey.

Stomp's costume is still being designed, but the 3D mascot is expected to make its first costumed appearance this summer. (Triceratops gear is already available in the online bookstore.)

Here's what Tri-C had to say about the Stomp name in the poll:

"Stomp conjures the impression of a large, prehistoric animal’s footfalls in a primeval forest, and it commands notice. It’s easy and fun to say, especially for children, and it could also lend the mascot a signature move."

Scene waits with bated breath for the unveiling of said signature move.

The online poll to select the mascot name is the same format Tri-C used to select the mascot itself. Tri-C announced in October that "Triceratops" had bested Jazz, Tridents, Blizzard, Coyotes and Challengers in a community poll.
