Water taxi season is back floating on the Cuyahoga River just in time for Mother's Day Weekend. And for the third year in a row riders can shuttle between both sides of the Flats free of charge, thanks to a centennial gift from local steelmaker ArcelorMittal.

Last year, the 26-foot eLCee2 water taxi — which can fit 17 people, dogs and also bikes — ferried a record-breaking 47,381 riders on the taxi passengers across the clear, brownish waters.

The first boat ride embarks at noon today. Throughout the season, the taxi also runs a variety of tours on Cleveland history and nature. Private tours are also available.

Hours are Friday from 4 to 9 p.m; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hours are shortened to 7 p.m. on Memorial Day and Labor Day.
