The Capitol Theatre has just announced that its third annual Pride Month Film Series will begin on Tuesday with a screening of the newly restored flick Before Stonewall. The film documents the infamous raid that took place on the Stonewall Inn, a bar in New York’s Greenwich Village, igniting the gay liberation movement. Opening night includes a reception with happy hour drink specials and desserts from locally based Bitchy Vegan Homo.

The series continues on June 11 with a screening of Good Kisser, an indie drama about a weekend fling that turns into a messy love triangle and on June 18 with a showing of Changing the Game, a documentary about three high school athletes. That screening will include a post-film discussion hosted by Christine Howey, Executive Director of Literary Cleveland and author/performer of Exact Change.

The series concludes on June 27 with Can’t Stop the Music, a camp classic about an aspiring songwriter who seeks help from “colorful characters from his neighborhood” to launch his career.

The screenings take place at 7:30 p.m., and admission is $9.75 for adults, $7 for seniors/children, $8.75 for students. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online at clevelandcinemas.com.

A portion of all concession sales from the Pride Film Series will go to the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland.
