Although today's Cleveland forecast predicts sunny weather up to 84 degrees, people should still limit their outdoor time. Today's air quality levels can put certain groups — such as children, older adults and those with breathing difficulties — at risk, the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency advises.

The new alert includes eight Northeast Ohio counties, including Cuyahoga County, and is issued through the end of the day due to ground-level ozone.

As of 10 a.m., Cleveland's Air Quality Index measured at 92, a moderate score. However, that number is predicted to rise into the Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups range, beginning at an Air Quality Index of 101.

Unhealthy air quality isn't anything new for Cuyahoga County, as earlier this year we received a frightening report card from the American Lung Association, which ranked Cuyahoga County among the 25 counties most polluted by year-round particle pollution in the nation.

We can all help reduce air pollution today by driving less, turning off car engines instead of idling, refilling our gas tanks after sunset and waiting to mow the lawn, suggests the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency.
