Next month, Maelstrom Collaborative Arts
will present another installment of Bricolage, an event that features musicians, dancers, visual artists and theater makers. The event pairs teams of creators together and requires them to make new, totally original live art.

“Bricolage is an exciting component of the Mixed Media series that highlights what MCA does best: bring artists together and give them the space to collaborate in new and exciting ways,” says event producer and MCA Director of Connectivity Marcia Custer in a press release. “Each group is enthusiastic to be meeting for the first time and using their unique blend of skills to make something incredible. This is the perfect laboratory for artists looking to branch out, try new things, and grow in a supportive environment,”

The following teams will participate: conceptual artist, activist, and legal scholar Amanda D. King will team up with multi-disciplinary artist James Waite; nonfiction writer, poet and storyteller Eris Eady meets Mixxed Rose, a multi-focused artist who works in movement, theater and the visual arts; musician and theater artist Mohammad Gholam Abolfazl will work with video, installation and performance artist Kayli Salzano; and printmaker and installation artist Rebekah Wilhelm will join dance artist Akane Little to create a physical sculpture to perform within.

Bricolage takes place at Maelstrom Collaborative Arts Headquarters on Thursday, Aug. 22, through Saturday, Aug. 24. Tickets cost $10 for Thursday, or $15 for Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 7 each night.
