12 Farmers' Markets Keeping Summer Fresh in Cleveland

With the end of summer looming (say it isn't so!), it's time to stock up on fresh produce at your nearby Cleveland farmers' markets while you still can. Here's a rundown of all the neighborhood markets here to help you make the most of this season and beyond. 

The Shaker Square Market (North Union)
The original location of North Union Farmers' Market, this family-friendly outdoor market is also the largest of North Union's offerings. With more that 50 farms represented, as well as many bakers and artists, Shaker Square Market is a must for lovers of fresh produce everywhere. It is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. until Dec. 21.

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Market (North Union)
Another offshoot of North Union Farmers' Market, this outdoor market at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus includes 30 vendors. In addition to fresh produce, the outdoor event features health screenings and live music each week. Stop by Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through Oct. 16. Carnegie Ave. & E. 100th St.

University Hospitals Cleveland (North Union)
North Union Farmers Markets' third Cleveland location at University Hospitals Lakeside campus features offerings from more than 20 farmers and food artisans (as well as free parking!). Come by anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays through Sept. 26.

Playhouse Square Market (North Union)
A perfect way to spend your lunch-break downtown, this outdoor market is conveniently located at the U.S. Bank Plaza. The final Cleveland branch of North Union Farmers' Market, this weekly outdoor event features locally-grown produce and artisan foods from 15 farmers and bakers. A new date and time has been set for Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 4. (Note that North Union has other locations in the Greater Cleveland Area at: Crocker Park, Chagrin Falls, Legacy Village, Pinecrest and Van Aken.)

Tremont Farmers Market
Set up weekly at Lincoln Park, Tremont Farmers Market features a variety of fresh produce, in addition to fresh baked goods, honey, jams, artisan foods and art from local farmers, producers and artists. Stop by on Tuesdays anytime from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. until Oct. 8.

Gateway 105 Farmers' Market
Stop by Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood for the G105 and support local artists, farmers and musicians. With locally grown produce, handmade crafts, art created by local arts and plenty of live music, this market runs every Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. until Sept. Be sure to drop by the last Friday of the month for Sustainability Day at the market.

Village Market at Slavic Village 
Recently relocated to Daisy’s Ice Cream, this outdoor market in Slavic Village offers everything from organic produce to freshly baked bread to jewelry and coffee. It sets up every Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. through Aug. 30.

Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market
Featuring chef demos, performances from entertainers, presentations on healthy living and work from new artists each week, Kamm's Corners is more than just a farmers' market. Along with fresh produce, vendors are selling jam, jelly, bread, cheese, coffee and much, much more. Kamm's Corners runs every  Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Oct. 13.
West 168th & Lorain Ave.

Ohio City Farm Stand
Stop by Ohio city for a taste of freshly-grown produce from Cleveland's largest urban farm. While you can tour the farm at any time, the stand is open Saturdays from 10 to 1 p.m. until mid-Oct.
Bridge Ave. and W 24th St.

Good Earth Farm Stand 
Providing fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey, this westside urban farm stand offers fresh produce at affordable prices. The stand is open Mondays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 to 4 p.m. until Oct., and on Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. year round.

City Fresh
A traveling farmers' market, City Fresh aims to promote sustainable farming and offer locally grown food that is consistently 20 to 40 percent cheaper than produce found in grocery stores. You can order produce in advance and pick it up from one of 16 "Fresh Stops" in the Greater Cleveland Area. The stands operate at various times Monday-Thursday up through the second-to-last week of Oct.

Old Brooklyn Farmers' Market 
Along with traditional fresh produce, the Old Brooklyn Farmers' Market 
is host to plenty of other activities and events each week, including live music, cooking demonstrations, fitness exercises like yoga and Zumba and featured artists. Catch this one on Saturday mornings in Old Brooklyn from 9 to 1 p.m. until Sept. 14.
