Cleveland joins more than 400 communities across the country in celebrating Welcoming Week, a series of events aimed at forging unity
with immigrants in the community and highlighting their contributions.

Running from Sept. 13-22 at locations in and around Cleveland, Welcoming Week is sponsored by Global Cleveland, a non-profit organization whose mission to bolster economic and social opportunities to international newcomers in the Cleveland area.

The highlight of the week, no doubt, is a City Club forum and book-signing with Khizr Khan, the constitutional lawyer and Gold Star Father known for his speech during the Democratic National Convention in 2016. (Holding up a U.S. constitution as he spoke, Khan called out Trump for his consistently racist and Islamophobic behavior.)

The series is hosting several other events, including an immigrant art tour at the Cleveland Museum of Art, an interfaith service and luncheon and a breakfast discussion of E1/E2 visas. Global Cleveland is also planning a "Passport Party" at Market Garden Brewery, during which attendees can bring their passports and compare stamps to see who's traveled the farthest (the winner will get a Vitamix).

The festivities conclude with a special naturalization ceremony at the Cuyahoga County Public Library Solon Branch. For a full schedule of events, click here.
