Date Set for Mayor Frank Jackson's 129th State of the City Address

The City of Cleveland cordially invites residents and other thrill-seekers to Mayor Frank Jackson's annual State of the City address, a humdrum affair that, despite its countless iterations, is always more or less the same.

This year's address — Jackson's 129th, by our count — will be held on October 10 at 7 p.m.  Like last year, Jackson will deliver his address at the Cleveland Public Auditorium. The evening start time and free admission is meant to encourage attendance. In years' past, the lunchtime address or Q&A was hosted by the City Club and exuded a weird, corporate vibe.

While admission is free and seating is open, registration is still for whatever reason required. Doors open at six. Refreshments will be provided. The talk itself will touch on familiar themes, though we hope Jackson will celebrate the work of CLASH and the passage of citywide lead-safe legislation.

With any luck, the administration will refrain from issuing any "Rules of Engagement" for local media members and avoid embarrassing dust-ups therefrom.
