Bubba's Q in Avon has closed. The barbecue restaurant was opened by former Cleveland Browns (and other teams) player Al "Bubba" Baker 13 years ago. At first, customers went simply to meet and greet the gregarious 6’ 8” host. But they soon discovered that he also happened to be a skilled barbecue cook, turning out delicious ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket, all smoked out back in beefy Southern Pride pits.

This was Baker’s second bite at the apple. His first was a short-lived barbecue restaurant at Shaker Square in the mid-1990s.

Fans of Bubba’s boneless baby back ribs, pulled pork and barbecue sauce can still purchase them online and at select grocery stores.
