Bangkok Thai
5359 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst

“This is my favorite Thai place out of all the cities I've been to in the US. I have had some great Thai in California and other places on the West Coast, but this place could definitely throw its hat into the ring to compare to the competition. The traditional pad thai and pad paradise are amazing. Also recommend the tofu triangles. I wish they had a west side location as I have made the drive to mayfield from the west side just to get take out from here, which sometimes is about an hour for the full trip. It is definitely worth it though. Their food is amazing,” Charlotte G. on Yelp

Barroco Grill
    Multiple Locations

What began as a diminutive Latin-themed cafe dispensing crisp, corny arepas has developed into an ambitious, wide-ranging and spirited restaurant on both sides of town. Given the eatery's propensity to broaden our culinary horizons, it's no surprise that weekend brunches come with a side of discovery. On weekends here you'll get to know — and love — cachapas, Venezuelan-style sweet corn pancakes stuffed with cheese, braised beef or bacon and eggs. The brunch menu also offers build-your-own egg plates with Colombian sides like rice and beans, crunchy tostones, or soft, sweet plantains.

When the widely popular Columbus-based eatery Northstar Cafe opened their own take on fast-casual Middle Eastern, we knew it would be a special eatery. And sure enough, it was. When they decided to bring their operation to the revamped Van Aken District, we were ecstatic and for good reason. The eatery has been extremely popular since opening in 2019 and for good reason.

 BRIM Kitchen and Brewery
    3941 Erie St., Willoughby

It took owners TJ Reagan and Chris Frate two years and more than a few wheelbarrows of cash to open BRIM, a stunning white-brick-and-glass structure that looks like a refurbished warehouse on the edge of town. But all that planning led to this being the brewery that may boast the best food out of all of them. And the brews are very good as well.

"Delicate," "precise," and "beautifully balanced" are just a few of the terms that spring to mind when we recall the preparations at this little gem of an Italian restaurant. Superior Pho

Because pho is an essential part of a balanced diet, not to mention one's sanity, noodle shops like this one hold a very important place in our lives. Winter or summer, a bowl of pho is more than food; it's a restorative elixir that sets us on a brighter path. Crispy spring rolls, citrusy cabbage salad, and meaty banh mi sammies also make us happy, so it's a good thing that the versions served at this perfectly acceptable dining room are as delicious as the noodle soup.

Lola Bistro | Downtown
Every god needs a temple, even the culinary ones. Cleveland is Michael Symon's parish, and when those parishioners want to worship the man who brings heaps of praise onto our city's food scene, they do so here, at Lola, the unofficial shrine to the "Rust Belt Revival." Food tourists book tables here months out, locals grab seats at the bar last minute, high-rollers set up shop at the chef's table near the open kitchen — and all of them leave a little lighter in the wallet, heavier in the belly, and happier for the opportunity to brush with greatness. Whether he's in the house or not, Symon's direction can be felt in every course.
