New Year's Eve Big '80s Dance Party -
The '80s are known for New Wave music and arcade video games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park aims to celebrate all things '80s with its Big '80s party slated to take place on New Year's Eve. THE SANTALAND DIARIES is best-selling author David Sedaris’ semi-autobiographical story of a jaded, 33-year-old out-of-work actor who takes a job as “Crumpet the Elf” at a Macy’s department store in 1989. As thousands of holiday customers gaily tromp through his display, Crumpet regales the audience with wicked observations about the realities of holiday cheer, all performed with a sardonic wit that has made THE SANTALAND DIARIES an enduring favorite. **For mature audiences only** (Photo courtesy CPT/Facebook)

Andrew W.K.
    When: Mon., Nov. 14
The self-proclaimed King of Partying, singer Andrew W.K. has somehow made a career out of his 2001 novelty tune "Party Hard." Of course, W.K. has recorded and toured regularly in the decade or so since he got his big break. The raspy-voiced hard rocker has also gotten gigs as a motivational speaker and worked as a producer (he has teamed up with Clevelander Baby Dee on numerous occasions). But nothing's had as much impact as the rowdy rocker "Party Hard," though like-minded tunes such as "It's Time to Party" and "Long Live the Party" come close. Tonight, W.K. brings Power of Partying, his first nationwide speaking tour, to town. The tour includes stops in all 50 U.S. states. Each evening will provide “an intimate celebration of discussion, a pep rally for the inner spirit, and an optimistic look at the overwhelming intensity of life.” The event takes place at 7:30 at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $20.

Cleveland Monsters vs. Rockford Ice Hogs

The festival also rounds up many of the region’s best garlic growers, making the fest the best place for wannabe garlic growers to purchase this year’s planting stock.
