Pressure Drop

Nothing gets this singer down. Not even wrong turns.

Seven weeks into her first tour, California singer-songwriter Jocelyn Scofield tallies the pitfalls of the road like a vet. “It gets fairly strenuous, driving 4 to 10 hours a day, loading and unloading equipment, sleeping in a new place every night, and getting lost,” she says. “However, none of those things bother me.”

Scofield’s laid-back personality complements both her onstage performance and This Life, her new CD about romantic relationships that “aren’t perfect or everlasting.”

“I’ll also throw in jazz standards and a bunch of road stories,” she says. “My shows have a mellow vibe that’s ideal for listening with a glass of wine and a friend.”
