A blind Cleveland State University student was robbed inside the main classroom building Tuesday night.

Grotez Simpson, 18, reached into a blind student's back pocket and stole his cell phone, CSU officials reported. Simpson then grabbed the student's backpack and ran off.

Campus robberies are starting to become a repetitive issue, but CSU lets its students know as quick as possible when incidents occur.

An email was sent to every CSU student 11:49 p.m. Tuesday:

"Today at approximately 9:37 p.m. a legally blind CSU student was robbed in the Main Classroom Building near the Euclid Avenue entrance. The victim reported that the suspect forcefully removed his book bag and took his cellphone out of his pocket. CSU Police retrieved surveillance video of the incident and describe the known suspect as a black male, 18 years old, 5' 9", 165 lbs., wearing a gray sweatshirt, brown Timberland boots with black soles, a black and white knitted hat and a dark leather jacket."

Simpson was arrested around 2 a.m. early Wednesday.

CSU spokesman William Dub told Cleveland.com that Simpson is not a CSU student, and is not affiliated with the school in any way.
