Cedar Point Reveals New 2018 Attractions Wednesday

Cedar Point started this summer with a bang, opening their new water park at the end of May. And the park intends to go out with a bang as well.

Wednesday, National Roller Coaster Day, the Sandusky theme park will announce new attractions for 2018, specifically the anticipated plans for the former Mean Streak. The Mean Streak, which closed last September, was the biggest and fastest wooden coaster in the world when it opened in 1991.

Now, workers from Rocky Mountain Construction intend to build a hybrid coaster, replacing the Mean Streak's wooden tracks with steel. The ride is also expected to be taller, and flip riders upside-down at least three times.

"My hunch is it is going to be more than 200 feet tall," Tim Baldwin, communications director for the American Coaster Enthusiasts Club, told ohio.com. "Cedar Point loves to measure things in the hundreds."

While park officials have yet to reveal the name of the coaster, they did release a sneak peek video of the coaster with the hashtag #TheyreComing:
