Gentleman- be warned- the next time you try to flirt with an attractive young lass, she may just call the cops on you.

At least that’s what one Lakewood woman did recently after she found a note on her car from a man who lives upstairs in her apartment complex.

In his note, the author reportedly said that he’d been living in the apartment complex for eight months and had just noticed the woman. He also said that he thought the woman was “cute,” and didn’t want to wait another eight months to meet her, the Plain Dealer reports.

The PD also notes:

“The woman told police that she didn’t want them to contact the note’s author because she was afraid that he would become angry or violent, but she wanted the incident documented, the report said. The woman said she would call police if he tried to contact her again.”

The comments rebounding off of the PD’s page go something like this:

While the woman’s call to police may have been a taaad bit of an overreaction, her response, nevertheless, is quite telling of the very real fears that local woman feel on a day to day basis as we walk to our cars, leave the office, and run errands. It’s a fear which has only been heightened in recent months as troubling headlines about people like Ariel Casto, Michael Madison, and Elias Acevedo plague our media.

It’s impossible to know whether this Flirtatious Note Joe could or would ever be a threat to this Lakewood woman, but she opted not to find out, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

  1. I can understand the paranoia. It seems a bit over the top but killers have a tendency to strike close to home. She wanted it documented in case anything ever happened. Extreme maybe, media driven?- most likely. But who are we to judge someone’s decisions. What if she was previously a victim of some sort of horrible circumstance or a relative was and she hasn’t found peace? We never know.

  2. I hope he isn’t violent…and if he is, I hope he’s illiterate! Whose brilliant idea was it to report this as news?

  3. “Who are we to judge?” Erin

We judge everyone, everything we see hundreds of times a day and in this instance saying this woman’s reaction *might* fall in the category of ‘ok’ because we don’t know the circumstances is, gasp, judging too!

And Rhonda, I hope he’s 80 years old and widowed.

I see why there are no comments posted by men so far. They’re too smart to stay away from this….not me though. 🙁

  4. That’s your rape culture for you. Man leaves a note on a car “AHMUHGAWDHERAPEDME!”

  5. It’s a good thing he left a note. Had he actually approached and hit on her, she might have shot and wounded him. Or worse, called the cops and really filed a complaint. Then he would have been classified as a sex offender. And don’t tell me that she doesn’t dress to impress. We ALL do that.

  6. hmmmm…what did the note actually say….Was it just an admiration note? Or was there more to it? Sometimes the public is only told partial stories….If it freaked her out it freaked her out,,,its not lke hes going to jail over it…and he now knows that hey she wants nothing to do with him…..People are crazy out there and maybe she really was scared for her safety. Reportable news? I don’t think so…..

  7. It’s sad that our world is in such a state that someone has to feel they need to report something like this to the police just in case.

  8. It’s unbelievable that someone is allowed to make an “official police report” and the guy in said report isn’t even informed of it!! No where in this story does it state that the Lakewood PD even verified who the suspected author was….the lady could have made it up…it happens. In the future should that suspected author ever be hauled into court about ANYTHING AT ALL that “official police report” can & will be used against him. Shame on the Lakewood Police Dept for perpetuating ignorance. I urge everyone to call the clerk in the records department of all area police departments and inquire if there is a report with their name anywhere on or in it. You are allowed to make a statement of your side if you have one. Make sure that your statement is date stamped & even notarized by the clerk and save same for your own records. There are alot of nutcases out there.
