You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night for a late-summer concert. When the operative word for outdoor concerts this season has been “soggy,” Blossom Music Center hosted picture-perfect skies and a balmy seventy degrees to welcome Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Nile Rodgers (Chic) and Duran Duran.
Rodgers is a veritable hit machine; a medley of tunes that he either wrote or produced took up a large part of his opening set.
UK-based Bastille came on next, giving a rambunctious performance that acted as a perfect bridge between Chic’s set and the headliners.
Duran Duran came up next, providing a solid set of their hits, a few deeper cuts (“Night Boat”), and two tunes off of their 2021 offering Future Past. Blossom was packed to the rafters and the crowd loved the vibe.
Returning to the studio this year for Danse Macabre, a new album scheduled to drop later this year, it will feature Andy Taylor, an original member of the band who is now suffering from cancer.
