As the city gears up for the finals confrontation between San Antonio and the Cavs, its been a longstanding tradition for newspaper columnists to rip on the opposing team’s city. Gaylon Krizak of the San Antonio Express-News continues it with a backhanded column touting all the ways he could rip on Cleveland but won’t.
For those wanting retribution, fret not. Let me just say it clearly and without hesitation: San Antonio sucks. I should know. I spent an entire summer out there interning for the same paper Krizak writes for.
I have no beef with the Express-News. I think it’s a phenomenal paper. It’s the city I grew to dislike.
San Antonio has an identity crisis, with strip clubs and churches alternating between blocks. Strip malls and fast food restaurants fill the main drags outside of downtown. And the downtown is littered with cheesy clubs catering to tourists and the military folks looking to get drunk and get laid.
Once, two of my college friends came out to visit because they’d never been to Texas before. I dropped them off downtown on a Friday morning because I had work. I gave them a map and pointed them to the Alamo. I told them how to access the River Walk, the area’s third biggest tourist draw (second is an outlet mall).
I got a phone call two hours later. They were at a mall. They had an entire day to explore San Antonio, and after 10 minutes of wandering the Alamo and realizing there wasn’t much more to it than a bunch of walls and some memories, they found sanctuary in an indoor shopping bonanza.
Don’t get me wrong. The city isn’t entirely bad. I’ve actually lived in worse (Joliet, Illinois). But it’s like living in a generic suburb, except it’s hot as hell and your only food option is Tex Mex and super-sized burgers. I’ll take Cleveland. – T.K. Kim
This article appears in Jun 6-12, 2007.

Apparently not everyone agrees with you. According to each city’s tourism bureau, 9.14 Million people visted Cuyahoga County in 2004 (the most current year statistics are available). During the same period, 21.3 million people visited the city of San Antonio.
Hey loser, the Alamo and Riverwalk are number 1 and 2 in ranking for most visited in Texas, ain’t no three here. Maybe if you weren’t too busy watching Drew Carrey reruns you’d do some actual research on that. And when was it you last lived in SA, from the sound sof it sometime in the mid 90’s it seems.
Oh yeah, please please please remind me never to intern for the Express-News. It may lead to me getting a job in Cleveland at some middle school run pub.
I’d die if I had to work for some ill ran publication but I think I’d end my life if I had to like in Cleveland.
I am originally from the Cleveland area, (and I live here now) but I spent 6 years living in San Antonio. I have to disagree with your comments. There’s got to be a good reason that the people I’ve met outside Ohio can’t even find it on a map, for crying out loud! This city and it’s state don’t have a lot to offer. It seems like most of the country still view us as a joke. (you know, people still remember the burning river??) I have to beg my out-of-state friends to visit, and then where do I take them? San Antonio is a city with a lot of pride, tons of history, and some of the warmest, down to earth people I have ever met. Yeah, it’s too damn hot down there for too many months, but at least you never get snowed in for weeks at a time, dreaming about the day you can finally enjoy the sunshine.
Maybe the reason this city is not where it should be is because people like you grow up here, mostly likely get an education here then leave instead of contributing to the city that got you were you are. I grew up in this city, I work in this city, I cheer on the Browns/ Indians/Cavs all year long- I am here. I have traveled to a ton of different cities, but I come back thinking “I love this city, it is my city”. Maybe if more Clevelanders had pride in the city that made them, it might not be such a “joke”.
By the way if you ever read Scene Magazine you would understand why the writers have received so many awards and that the stories make a huge impact on peoples lives- do your F-ing research
Aintogone, I feel for you. I really do, man. Defending the City of San Antonio like you are. Really sad. I’d much rather be busy watching “Drew Carey” reruns than researching the top three most-visited tourist sites in Texas. Is that really all you people have to do down there? Come and visit Cleveland sometime. See how city folk do things.
Michelle, did you ever consider that maybe it’s not because of Cleveland that your out-of-state “friends” don’t want to visit? Might be time for some introspection. Good chance Cleveland would be less of a joke if you just moved away.
Well, You have hit it on the head about San Antonio. The Team is a great Basketball Team but the city sucks. You left out the very low wages the locals make, the high population of Uneducated people, the high population of 17 year old girls with 3 kids.
San Antonio is trying to find its Way, a few wana be trendy spots have opened up. However, there is nothing but Call Centers, Low paying banking jobs, Military, Service Industry and Medical.
The average income of at educated single person is 30.1 thousand and combined household of 42 thousand. (See the economic figuers on San Antonio.) The city is growing fast with a lot of poor people moving in and corporate types being relocated in order to be payed less.
By the way, I read the express news once. I is a joke of a paper with a page of business news and written on a 7th grade level.
Stay away from San Antonio….If you want to live in Texas, live up north in Austin or Dallas.
I suspect that most of you commenters are too young to have lived in Cleveland when it was a really “big-time” city. Well, as a baby boomer, I grew up in a Cleveland that was the 8th largest city in America (we’re still not doing too badly — metro Cleveland is 18th largest in the nation, whereas San Antonio metro is 31st)! My point is that Cleveland was once so “big-time” that it still has more “big-time” stuff than San Antonio, or a lot of other cities, will ever have! So, I am telling you young guys, whenever someone knocks your hometown of Cleveland, hit them with the following: Cleveland has the finest of the “Big Five” symphony orchestras in the nation; the third best (#1 in heart treatment) all-around hospital in the nation (Cleveland Clinic); the tallest skyscraper between New York and Chicago (Key Tower); the “Emerald Necklace” — one of the biggest park systems in the nation; second biggest (next to NYC’s) main public library building in the country; one of the top-10 art museums in the country; second biggest collection of theatres (Playhouse Square) after the Kennedy Center in DC; and beautiful major-league sports facilities…. Plus, we have a beautiful inland sea while San Antonio has desert, the Alamo, River Walk and a whole lot of ugly strip malls. I rest my case….!
WOW, I’m reading the US News and World Reports, Guiness Book of Records and the U.S. Census bureau, I have to go and write them and let then know all thier information is wrong according to the experts and sea lawyers in Cleveland. What does rise up mean anyway?
GO SPURS GO!
I hate it here too!!!!!! I moved here a year ago from Dallas. There are SO many things that are SO messed up with this retched city. First off, the people CAN NOT drive!!!! I came up with a slogan,, ” they are all in a hurry to go slow!” They are constantly cutting you off and then slowing down in front of you! They need more road rage, then maybe they would think twice about it!
The city is SO trashy too. There is ALWAYS trash littered up and down the highways! And whoever built this city is a COMPLETE moron!!
Ohh, i could go on and on. I cant wait to be able to leave and go back home. It has DEFINITLY made me miss Dallas!
We need more road rage? Yikes.
That’s all I remember about Dallas is everyone driving like they’re on crack. Not fun.
The driving is the thing I like best about San Antonio next to the Riverwalk. The people are nice also. The Alamo is a beautiful, interesting and very relaxing place to visit.
We also have an outstanding Zoo, Seaworld AND Six Flags.
But it’s unbearably hot and humid in San An. And apparently it never cools down. And this is coming from someone who spent the last 10 years in Las Vegas.
We’ve just spent 7 months in San Antonio and although it’s a great city, the heat is driving us out.
You can put on more clothes when it’s cold, but you can’t escape this heat and it’s relentless.
I have to mention that compared to San Antonio, Austin and Dallas really suck. Bunch of real jerks on the road up there.
Can you say Redneck?
I couldn’t agree with you MORE dude. I live in this f’ing toilet, I was born and raised here and it becomes MORE of a toilet all the time.
Between all the WET-BACKS, the GOOD-OLD BOY government where they name buildings and stuff after people that are still ALIVE.
There have been some really good businesses that have opened here and died because SA is such a f’ed up place to do business.
As soon as my kids graduate I am OUTTA this God forsaken toilet forever… It’s a big city trying to act like a small town. They TOUT events in parts of the city that I wouldn’t go to on a bet…
SAN ANTONIO TRULY SUCKS….
The River Walk is an overpriced tourist trap
The Spurs and King Henry Cisneros and Red McCombs HAD to have the Alamodome…. WTF happened with that…. They built it too short for baseball so they build a crummy un-shaded stadium out on highway 90 and name it after an ex mayor who IS STILL ALIVE ????
WTF kinda crap is that….
The streets are laid out like they were placed by a drunk on a burro, the same one that sets the timing on the street lights….
SAN ANTONIO SUCKS….
I just moved to San Antonio 6 mos ago. This entire metro area is a DUMP. The locals drive like morons, trash their yards with old cars and garbage, and people all seem to think that this is the best place ever. There is nothing to do at all. Yeah yeah, seaworld, six flags, yadda yadda yadda…that’s all there is.
I live in SA and let me tell the locals do a good job with fooling tourist into thinking its a great place but that is not at all the truth. The weather is great if you ask me and the city goverment has done an ok job of keeping it clean and halfway safe. The problem is with about 82% of the people that live here. I have never been exposed to such lazy unhelpful retarded slobs anywhere in the world has have been exposed to in San Antonio. It is funny that these animals have so much to be proud of like there 14 children, but all they care about is Beer, Tacos and the Spurs. This town is a nice place to visit but dont live here the locals are retards with diabetes.
San Antonio metro will surpass Cleveland metro within the next few years. San Antonio metro is not 31, it is number 27.The metro area has over 2 million people. CLeveland is nowhere near number 18. San Antonio has 6 fortune 500, and is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Cleveland isn’t growing. According to the census bureau, Cleveland has the highest number of people living in poverty. So Cleveland is the poorest city in the nation. San Antonio isn’t in the top 20 poorest cities. San Antonio is known as the “Birthplace of the U.S. Miltary.” The “Alamo City”, and “River City.” Cleveland is called the “Mistake by the Lake.”

I think it’s funny that “Supa Star” talks about people in San Antonio being uneducated, yet reading his post shows just how uneducated he is. He capitalizes words that should not be capitalized, including the word “Uneducated”. Then he doesn’t capitalize words that should be (e.g. “express news”, which should also be hyphenated). His misspelled “payed”, and he doesn’t realize that all general-circulation newspapers are written to an 8th grade reading level, which apparently is above his own reading level.
FUCK HATERS I HOPE YOU FUCKING DIE !!! San Antonio for life!!
Ok I’ve lived in this city for about four years now and I have now noticed that it has become an increasing, just plain old crappy city. I could go on for hours of how much I HATE THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A TOURIST DESTINATION.
First of all, everyday on the news there are at least THREE people that are killed, get in an accident, and plenty other bad stuff. Crime rate, yeah, it’s bad.
And really all these stupid people care about are beer and the spurs. It’s like the only thing I ever hear about. Go Celtics….
And of course there’s always the point that we’re a top tourist destination. Ok the only thing people come here for is Seaworld and sporting events. Not the Riverwalk, that river is full of trash, algae, and neglect.
So in conclusion, if you ever move here…you will most likely think in a few years…WHAT THE F**K WAS I THINKING?
San Antonio is the biggest cesspool in the U.S. For example, just the other day the skies opened up and rained down shit from Mexico. No I’m not joking. No one here speaks English and they get infuriated when you don’t understand/speak Spanish. They’re Spanish, however, is so poor that real Mexicans can’t even understand them. Everyone here is fucking morbidly obese and they do all their shopping in fucking rascals! I have actually seen an 80lb 4 year old eating a fried turkey leg while her fat ass mother pushed her around in a shopping cart. None of the fucking animals control their children. The proof is in every store that you might walk into. There are dirty children everywhere and trash littering the shelves. I have actually seen on numerous occasions people rinsing their feet in drinking fountains or sinks. SPURS SUCK!!!! I can’t wait to leave this god-forsaken city for good. Let Mexico have it because they all fucking live here anyway!!
I have lived in San Antonio for all 21 years of my life. Its hot and humid for 8 months on end, and is unbearable at times, but thats why I have air conditioning. Its not the richest city in the country, but it could be a lot worse…Personally I love beer, tacos, and the Spurs. The riverwalk is expensive, thats why I dont really go to the riverwalk. I realize the Alamo is boring, I have known that since I used to take field trips there as a 1st grader…but ask anyone where the alamo is and im sure they will know. For being Mexican American, I dont speak one word of spanish, which is pretty funny for growing up on the southside, where you cant throw a rock without hitting a supposedly “dirty mexican,” as people seem to thats all thats here. For the most part everyone can speak English and Spanish. I have never personally seen people rinse their feet in fountains or sinks, but I guess we are too stupid to even remember if we did or not…haha. Crime is bad apparently, so what, everyone has crime. It is CITY. Personally I don’t care how many big companies San Antonio has, or what race of people inhabit the city, or what food is good. All I know is that it’s my home and thats what I love. I have been around this country, and there are some wonderful places, but I would take this hot, humid, taco-eating town over anywhere else.
I was born in San Antonio and grew up in a small town a few miles there. But after I graduated from high school in 1978 I left the area and have only rarely gone back to visit. The atmosphere when I was there was like the world’s biggest small town. For some people that might sound nice and comforting, but they probably never grew up in a small town. It winds up being constricting and frustrating. In a small town incompetency and mediocrity are often celebrated. Petty jealousies and small minds have unnaturally large influence on people’s lives. Leaving there is one of the things in my life over which I have had absolutely not one single moment of regret at any point in the 30 years since it vanished in my rear view mirror. Judging from some of the comments by the San Antonio residents that have posted, things haven’t changed in all that time.
If you don’t like SA then get out!!!No one forced you to move here anyway!! For the idiot who complains about the murder/accident rate: over 1.5 milion people live here, what do you think is going to happen?? For those of you who don’t like people who speak spanish, if you had the balls to call people names to their faces you’d find out that we aren’t always as nice as folks say we are. You’d probably end up wrapped in burning rug somewhere off of hwy 90!! Dont F w/us!!!
I completely agree with you!!
I’ve lived here my whole life,…
I hate this place,…
Everyone looks the same,…. I swear walking down the street makes me feel like I’m in a really low budget cartoon or something where they use the same frames over and over again because it costs less,…everbody is Uber skinny,….with a Shaved head,… a wifebeater tanktop,.. Baggy pants that they have to hold upwith they’re hands,… and those stupid “210” sunglasses!!
I live on a much poorer part of town,…
And I remember once on the Via bus (Which sucks horribly as well, don’t even get me started on that) I was threatened with death because some stupid douche was offended that I didn’t sit next to him,…
It’s sad really. No one gives a shit about maybe raising their 15 kids to do something productive,…instead its, Jesus, Beer, Tacos, N Spurs.
I swear there is no open minded individuals here, unless they’re all at home because they don’t want to deal with the stupidity of this city!
Everyone puts on a fake front to act like they’re badasses and talks about how they supposedly kicked someones ass,…or some shit.
Not to mention how horribly hot it is here,….if it was a good city and it was hot,..I would deal with it,…but it’s not! the heat is like bonus suffering!
People don’t think for themselves! All they do is place false hopes in,..once again,..Jesus, Beer, Tacos n The spurs!
No one can fucking drive!
The whole place looks and smells like sewage!
People get offended if you don’t speak spanish!
Everyones always bieng stupid and loud about something…stupid.
I just,….Ugh
Everyone here’s a queer bashing, Bible thumping, cocky, fuckhead!
….
I understand not everyone is,..I appreciatte those who aren’t,…but still,…what the hell!!!,…I’m just ranting now,…but I really hate this place!
And I’m too poor to move ,…the only upside about this city is,..it’ll make you feel a lot smarter,….It’s like someone took a piss in the gene pool,…. I could go on and on,…but It’d be a waste of,…finger muscles.
It still sucks here. Nuff said.
First off, at least half the people in this city are overweight/morbidly obese. I’ll walk into a restaurant and I’ll see a 10 person Mexican family who have all had too much Carne Guisada. It’s disgusting…
I have probably been all over the city and seen it all. AT LEAST HALF this city is near-ghetto.
The publication and media news are jokes. They couldn’t care less about their job.
This is a biggie, the roads here were designed for the hell of it and I have yet to see a better-than-mediocre one in most of the city. To top it off the people here CANNOT DRIVE.
There are too many gangs here and the Mexican people can’t control their kids. Period.
Finally, the last thing about it is it’s nowhere near clean. Downtown looks like it’s been here for fifty years without any updates/restoration.
It really does suck here. It’s like the wart on the ass of society. The cons outweigh the pros of the quality of life here.
Don’t even think about moving here, TRUST ME!
i guess its inevitable how a debate about cleveland vs san antonio has degenerated into a san antonio sucks party… thats because it sucks so hard! but let me back up- i’m from nyc and i visited cleveland a couple of times…pretty cool sports town; i got to see “the tribe” at “the jake” and hang out downtown and had a pretty decent time. the people seemed ok and the city itself is neat kinda like a smaller quieter mix of ny and chicago… diverse population, and a few cool things to do. i’ve lived in san antonio since dec 2005 and people this is easily the crappiest place ive ever lived and i was stationed in small minded bible thumping colorado while in the service among other weird places. san antonio is crap. the weather here may be its only redeeming quality (i just like hot i guess). the “people” here barely qualify…theyre a half step above shaved apes. fat lazy and incredibly stupid. no one can drive; its like they think theyre still on horseback or something. the men here act like women; you see them standing around sucking big red or some pissy beer out of a can gossiping about everyone and each other. these young guys ambition in life is to find some low self esteem fat teenage chick with five dirty misbehaved kids to hook up with so they can live off her public assistance the rest of their lives. the food is just hot garbage and it all comes from the same chains, no good restaurants here at all. these people don’t know about paying good money for a good meal, they just want lots of crappy food for real cheap like taco cabana and jims. fashion means a wifebeater and some dickies for the guys and too small halter tops that expose countless rolls of fat for the women. the music is horrid; the carnival theme music and spanish polka nonsense is unbearable and the ringtone rap makes me want to cut my own ears off. diversions are nonexistent. the riverwalk sucks. who wants to pay 12 bucks for parking just so you can be back in your car in in an hour because theres nothing to do? therse one museum and it sucks. i like the spurs but i dont rush to go to games anymore because you end up next to some sweaty drunken tejano who knows nothing about basketball screaming “lakers suck” no matter who theyre actually playing. i could go on forever but i have better stuff to do like plan my next trip to a real city.
Hey ANTHONY, I’m sorry if I offended you and your gang about the city.
But your like the perfect example of why it sucks in the city! Mexican-American people who threaten people because of something the other person said. I’m not trying to be racist but some people in San Antonio are such asses about things they threaten other people!
And for the record, San Antonio has 1.1 million people in it. Compared to other city crimes with that population or higher it’s not so great thinking your safe here.
From the sounds of it you are:
1) A twelve-year-old who just moved here and went to a Spurs game.
OR
2) A person who thinks he’s a true gangster and beats his wife who’s probably 18.
Why are you even on here defending San Antonio? From the majority of comments on here it’s represented as a blog for people who HATE, not like, SA.
You know Steve, I lived in Austin for 12 years and the fact that you say quote:
“I have to mention that compared to San Antonio, Austin and Dallas really suck.”
You must’ve lived in like North Austin or something. I lived in South Austin and that was great, considering I was close to downtown and it was way more nice than North Austin. Wait a minute, have you even BEEN to Austin?
COME ON, Steve. Have you been living under a rock for your past 5 years? Look, I have relatives all over SA and I’ve been everywhere. I can’t find one area that comes close to surpassing the quality of South Austin.
Austin is much more clean, maybe 10% of the people there are obese, and downtown is so much more nice than SA. Period. Overall it’s a WAY more healthier city, in terms of people and cleanliness. It’s also way more safe.
Sure you may have the Spurs, but we have UT for us Longhorn fans!
Actually I think pretty much everything in Austin is better. Except for maybe…….never mind.
Austin > San Antonio.

Austin > San Antonio.
He’s right. I’ve lived in Japan, stayed in NY for a few months, then Florida, but I’ve been living in SA for the past 11 years (most of my childhood) and out of every place I’ve lived in, it has to be the worst. At first it wasn’t so bad, but as time went on, countless numbers of illegals will fill at one point in time nice suburban neighborhoods and run them straight into the ground. The drivers here are awful mostly due to one of the highest rates of drunk driving in the country. If we’re lucky, we’ll get about 1 month of decent weather while the other months are hot and murky as hell, and it NEVER rains, so water rationing happens a lot. It’s hard to find any work due to a number of factors, and most employers want you to speak Spanish if you’re even considering the job. The people are extremely dense, probably because the native-born san antonian hasn’t ventured further than their own backyard, and kids here are encouraged more to get pregnant at the age of 13 rather than better themselves with higher education. Get ready to see a bunch of little obnoxious, fat teens strolling the streets with 3 kids and no dad when you visit here. Kids think having a baby is some sort of cute accessory here. San Antonio is one of the leading cities for teen pregnancy and has one of the highest drop out rates. Do you have allergies? Well you will when you come here. The cedar pollen is unnaturally high and everyday you’ll feel like shit in a hot mexican filled hell hole. Tourist attractions? What attractions? You mean the River Walk with it’s puke green water and the countless numbers of hobos that can be seen taking a piss in it? Or how about the Alamo that they just turned into a crappy shopping center? Who wants to walk the slums of downtown in 102 degree heat and be emerged in the Tejano culture, when pretty much the entire city is always throwing it in your face whether you want the culture or not? It’s shit! There is SO much more to do and see in other places. There’s too much beauty in the world to waste your time on San Antonio. If you think otherwise, you have no clue.
At least San Antonio doesnt riot when they lose a star player of a basketball team. I dont blame LeBron James for leaving that shithole. He actually has a chance to win a championship in Miami.
I’m so glad people agree with me :). San Antonio has to be the worst city in the U.S. My father is in the military so I was forced here and I have hated it with a deep passion. The teenagers here wear their pants low and try to walk, and talk cool. They think they’re too cool to do anything except try to look cool. (I know that sounded stupid but it is the best way to try and describe their attitude.) The adults are stupid as well, I guess I can see how the kids got so damn stupid now. There are no people with good work ethic, and no people of good moral character. It’s like they purposefully try to be an asshole because they think their cool by doing that or something. I also brought up the grade average in most of my 30 – 40 person classes because my scores were so different from everyone else’s. I also noticed that my dad cusses while driving allot more now due to the terrible drivers. I may only be 14, but I can tell when a city sucks and I mean SUCKS In bold with CAPITAL LETTERS.
I have lived in San Antonio for four years in college and I can’t wait to finish my degree and GET OUT! I grew up as a native Texan in Houston area and visited San Antonio from time to time for their theme parks and riverwalk and such but living here is absolute hell. Everything said above is absolutely true. The problems all start with the people. The city is 80-90% Hispanic Mexican. Guaranteed they all speak Spanish, hardly understand English even though they are living in the United States. They all have big families with lots of kids at a young age that they can’t support. As a result, they are poor and uneducated. My college is in the central-west side of town and the area around it is an absolute ghetto. I have been to many many parts of San Antonio and THE ONLY good side of town is the North side, consequently white. And if you’re wondering… Racism exists because stereotypes exist and the truth is in the city, the stereotypes are very apparent. Also, the drivers do suck because they are driving old clunkers and don’t have a decent job so they really dont have anywhere they gotta be. Never seen so many stupid, poor, and obese people all bottled up into one city like this. Forget trying to live here, all the property is rundown shacks anyway.
So pretty much all you people who are hating on SA are some fat kid hiding behind a computer or some pasty white kid who has no friends so all your good at is talking about how much you hate something. You people are obviously the poor people that have moved into the city and made it ghetto!!! Fyi the city started to have higher crime rates when they decided to help all the ghetto people from New Orleans!! You obviously didn’t grow up here, because you haven’t seen whats really happened. Your just some lonely child freak who gets on the internet to agree with people just so you can feel that you “kind of” do have friends. Why don’t you go back to Cleveland or whatever ghetto city you came from and stop being racists you f****** fag!!!!! And this is for all the losers that were hating on SA!!! Oh and you know how i know your all queers and losers? You say there’s nothing to do in SA? Maybe its cause your b**** a$$ doesn’t have any friends or money to go do anything!!!! That’s why your probably using someone else’s wifi to get on the internet and hide behind a screen and talk mess. Your lucky your not showing who you are cause if I was still in SA my Mexican American ass would beat the shit out of you!!! Go spurs Go!!!! I love tacos!!!!!!!! Your pale skinny ass probably likes Taco bell anyway smh… Get out of that beautiful city and go back to your gay classical music theater city or whatever the eff that one guy said was the best part of cleveland…. San Antonio isn’t a city for pussy ass niggas anyways. 🙂
OMG YA’LL are weird!!!! Just go cut yourselves already and get it over with you depressing people… It’s not even that hot in SA you pansies.
San Antonio is great if your a tourist. It’s just like any other tourist trap fun to visit but not to live in. I have lived here for almost 3 years now moving from Austin and I absolutely hate it. I think downtown is beautiful and it has plenty of things to do if your visiting. Downside is if you live here good luck finding a decent paying job that you don’t have to work 80 hours a week at just to pay your rent. So therefore you really wont have time or be able to afford to do any of the cool things this place does have to offer. If you want to live in a decent neighborhood and by decent I mean a neighborhood where you don’t have to worry about getting assaulted checking your mailbox it’s expensive. The weird thing about it is I have went and looked at really nice houses that are affordable but the neighborhood is like walking into a 3rd world country. Unfortunately, the majority of San Antonio is poverty stricken and full of crime. I was shocked at how much the scene would change in just a 10 minute drive. The people from here all seem depressed, tired, and angry. I have gotten into several verbal confritations with young men saying very explicit sexual remarks to me while I’m just walking down the street. I’m not an overly sensitive person and I accept the occasional whistle or hey baby but when you start talking about where you want stick stuff on my body and I don’t even know you we have a problem. AND I DO SAY IT TO THEIR FACE. Majority of the attitude here is disrespectful and self entitled. Stuck right now but moving as soon as I can afford it.
