- “My bad, sorta.”
Scene recently called out Councilman Tom Bullock for some BS he had on a campaign mailer that cited us as saying stuff we didn’t really say. Specifically, that Nickie Antonio “stands with party bosses in opposing the county government reform effort.” We didn’t say that. Or mention Nickie Antonio at all in the original article.
Tom was nice enough to send us a letter explaining how that little mishap occurred, and, well, we’ll let you judge for yourself.
As the recent entry in Scene & Heard correctly notes, my campaign sent out a mailer making a statement about my opponent’s position on county government reform that cited a Scene article [“Never Mind Bullock’s Embellished Claims,” April 14, 2010].
Scene is absolutely correct that the story cited never mentioned Nickie Antonio. The article was used as a source for the fact that Cuyahoga County party bosses opposed county government reform. Because Antonio’s stated position against Issue 6 had not been covered in the press, there was no article to source that portion of the statement.
But no one has attempted to deny the truth of the statement itself or of the other statements comparing our records.
Nickie Antonio is a good person, and we have worked together on the Lakewood City Council to accomplish some great things. She is not corrupt, and my campaign has never claimed her to be so. However, we have a very different outlook on how critical reform is for the future of our community.
Councilman Tom Bullock
Lakewood
This article appears in Apr 21-27, 2010.

Bullock Endorses Antonio! (Not that she needs or wants it.)
“Nickie Antonio is a good person, and we have worked together on the Lakewood City Council to accomplish some great things.”- Tom Bullock. I’m glad to see that Tom Bullock has come to his senses and admit what a great candidate Nickie Antonio is! I hope that Tom has also realized that we Ohioans know when a politician is a lying hypocrite! Tom, please take your phony reform act back to your home state of Indiana or wherever you’re from.
Oh boy, he just keeps digging deeper and deeper into silliness. I almost feel sorry for him….not really.
Oh boy. He keeps digging deeper and deeper into silliness. He should run as a Republican.
Tom made a mistake and has admitted it. How many times have you heard that from a politician? He also clarified that, contrary to Antonio’s opinion, he never called her corrupt. The fact is that he has spoken out against corrupt officials in Cuyahoga County and Antonio has not. If anything, I would say being from Indiana is a bonus. He doesn’t owe favors to any local party players.
