The subject of a forthcoming documentary film, Maurice Reedus, the local musician who goes by the name “The Sax Man” played a special concert on Thursday night at House of Blues that reunited him with his former band, Sly, Slick & Wicked. The filmmakers behind the documentary introduced Reedus and band and explained that the concert would be filmed. The resulting footage would appear in the movie. The amount of camera equipment at the club suggested the filmmakers weren’t just messing around, either. A giant boom swept over the crowd taking close-ups of the guys as they played and panned to shoot crowd shots as well (let’s hope they captured former Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum CEO as he was dancing the night away in the balcony).

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.
