Yet another old Cleveland band has been heard from. East Wind, a popular bar band who played regularly at clubs like Maple Heights’ Longhorn back in the ’70s, have joined the parade of long-defunct area groups doing reunion shows.
It’s at the Beachland Ballroom on September 26. Wild Horses — the band East Wind drummer Tony Mazzone moved on to following the breakup — will open. (Wild Horses reunited back in the late ’90s).
East Wind released one 7-inch single “Sadness Never Lasts/Could This Be Love” before dissolving in 1980; they did one reunion show two years later before calling it a day completely.
In addition to Mazzone, the band included keyboardist/guitarist Richard Attinoto, bassist Bob Coulson, lead guitarist Jim Greer and vocalist/drummer Billy Greer.

I drank a lot of 3.2 beer listening to these guys at the Longhorn in the mid-70s.
I remember that bar!!!!…wasn’t it on Broadway east of Lee rd…….yes,alot of 3.2 pitchers!!
Sunday night pitcher night. $3.00 for girls and $5.00 for guys. All you can drink. I miss Mr. Greer. Worked in the coatroom. Many good memories.
