We picked country legend George Jones’ appearance at the Akron Civic Theatre tonight as one of the week’s don’t-miss concerts.
Well, hope you have a backup plan: the singer known as No-Show Jones, you guessed it, won’t be showing up tonight.
Word is he’s having problems with his voice or something like that. But seeing that Jones has a history of canceling gigs at the last second, we’ll just chalk it up to part of his legacy. Or you can just blame it on the booze (or maybe he’s doing coke again?).
Whatever the reason, Jones won’t performing in Akron tonight. So find something else to do. His show will be rescheduled for sometime next year. But we wouldn’t place any bets on him showing up for that one either. —Michael Gallucci

Maybe so, but he’s one of the best singers this country has ever produced. So you might want to stfu, cbrbart, k?
The comments in the story about “blame it on the booze” and “maybe he is doing coke again?” are totally out of line. George has done a lot over the past few years to change his image. If you knew anything about George, you would know that he has had voice problems over the past year or so, as he has aged. Yes, he is 79 now!! Of course, maybe this is nothing more than the writer trying to be funny. We’ll, he failed!!! (Oh, and I will pass this along to George’s management.) Regardless, the writer would do better to stick to the facts.
this is way off as a personal friend of Both George and Nancy Jones i know he has been very sick his vocal cords were swollen till he could not possibly sing to sit there and make up lies you should be horsewhipped i hope they fire your sorry good for nothing ass / I have seen him perform when his throat was so sore he had to use throat spray to get through the night you are a loser and jealous of the love people have for George Jones with nothing to do but try to destroy a good man well its not happening he was sick Never knock the Possum cause neither Him or Nancy Lie i hope you have a lousy holiday season
It is unfortunate that Mr. Gallucci would jump to conclusions without doing any research. Has George had problems in the past? Yes he has, but in the last several years his problems have stemmed primarily from health issues. There are very few artists his age performing as often and in as many different places as George. Give the man a little respect. It does not help Mr. Gallucci’s image to spend his time digging up bones. The past is not the future.
