Need another reason to eat local? How about the recent E.coli outbreak at three — count ’em, three — northeast Ohio Chipotle restaurants over the last two months.

That’s right, cases of E.coli have been confirmed at Chipotle establishments at Legacy Village, in Parma on West Ridgewood Drive, and at the University of Akron on East Exchange Street, Cleveland19 reports today.

The three infected restaurants do not have plans to close down, a Chipotle spokeswoman told Cleveland 19, but that they are undergoing a “deep cleaning,” which includes replacing ingredients and observing employees for any signs of symptoms (none have been reported so far).

“We take this incident very seriously because the safety of our food and well being of our customers is always our highest priority,” Steve Ells, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle said. “We are committed to taking any and all necessary actions to make sure our food is as safe as possible, and we are working diligently with the health agencies.”

The northeast Ohio incidents took place between mid-to-late October and Nov. 6. Outbreaks have also been reported in Washington and Oregon.

Did you read the same article you just shared?

“45 people infected with the outbreak strain of STEC O26 have now been reported from a total of 6 states: California (2), Minnesota (2), New York (1), Ohio (1), Oregon (13), and Washington (26).”

The article from the CDC is dated 11/20. This article is the 23rd. Perhaps more cases had since come about and been reported.

  3. 45 people is not the true amount of people who have gotten ill. Chipole has not been forthcoming with the truth , just wait, this story is about to Blow up like people’s asses
after eating at Chipole.. Chipole makes your ass bleed and I have the proof they are serving undercooked food.

  4. By the way Mandy Renee, I have the CDC report in my hand. Peoples lives are more important than people’s jobs. Steve Ells makes 200 million while buying subpar produce , paying low wages and turning a blind eye while customers almost die after eating at Chipole. It’s been four weeks since eating a taco
And I am still ill after being hospitalized with internal bleeding and external bleeding from eating at chipotle.

  5. My names justin from mentor ohio and i confirm ecoli at legacy.. I had it last night and this morning i had diahreah and vommited at least 4 times. Im very naseua and stomach is hurting/cramping. Never again will i eat chipotle
