With Puscifer, an even weirder and artsier band than Tool and A Perfect Circle, the two other bands he fronts, Maynard James Keenan says the emphasis is on the live performance. “This show is so much more than just a band regurgitating songs,” he says in a press release announcing the band’s 2016 tour, which includes an April 4 stop at the Akron Civic Theatre. “This is a multi-media performance unlike anything you’ve ever witnessed. There are those who know, and there are those who will know soon enough.”

The tour supports the band’s new EP, Money $hot, which Keenan’s Puscifer Entertainment released earlier this year. Puscifer’s touring line-up features Keenan, guitarist Mat Mitchell, singer Carina Round, drummer Jeff Friedl, keyboardist/vocalist Mahsa Zargaran and bassist Paul Barker (Ministry, Lead Into Gold). Tickets for the Akron show go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.
