Since it returned to live performance five years ago, the group has toured relentlessly, delivering two defining shows at the Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii.
“In Pompeii, a large percentage of the audience was young couples; [King Crimson has] moved into the mainstream in Italy,” says guitarist Robert Fripp in a press release announcing the tour. “I walked onstage knowing that this band’s position in the world has changed.”
The band’s three-hour shows regularly include material from most of its 13 studio albums, including many of the songs from 1969’s In the Court of the Crimson King. The eight-piece lineup plays many pieces which Crimson never played live as well as new arrangements of classic tunes. The show will also feature new instrumentals and songs and compositions by the band’s three drummers.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25.
