A local three-piece garage rock band that formed in 2012, Sweepyheads has just posted its new EP, Seriously Losing It, in advance of its upcoming CD release that takes place at 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Grog Shop.

The EP opens with “Nothing Left,” a song which, with its spoken-more-than-sung vocals and hook-y guitar riff, sounds like a cross between Velvet Underground and Nirvana. “Superficial” features stuttering vocals and chug-a-lug guitars and “Can’t Help You” sounds like vintage Foo Fighters with its searing guitar riffs and clamorous drums. Album closer “Either Way” cranks up the psychedelic guitars and concludes with a glorious mid-song jam.

Saturday’s show starts at 9 p.m. Who Hit Me and ThankYouSHUTUP open. Tickets are $5.
