[image-1]Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department deputy David Miller was arrested on Christmas Eve day by North Olmsted police on an OVI charge after a crash. He attempted to illegally pass a vehicle on Gessner Rd. The other vehicle made a left hand turn and struck Miller’s car. Miller failed a field sobriety test and refused a breath test.

Miller, who has two previous DUIs on his record, in 1994 and 2007, works in transport unit for the Sheriff’s Department, driving inmates to and from the county’s jail downtown.

A county spokesperson said there is an open investigation into the incident but that any discipline wouldn’t be determined until the case went through the court system.

Miller is currently on unpaid administrative leave as of today.

  1. No wonder we’ve had inmates escape custody during transport… This loser doesn’t deserve his job. Must think he is above the law or something.

You are a disgrace to your family and city… You should be ashamed.

  2. If anyone else had a driving job like that, ONE DUI conviction would lose you your job. It’s indefensible. And no Union should back up an incompetent professional when the union can easily provide that service competently from someone who will NOT be putting life and safety at risk. This is reckless. He didn’t just get caught drunk, he got caught after a CRASH drunk!

  3. 3 Strikes and your’e out! Deputy has a bad problem and is a threat to Public Safety. He really needs to be in Prison now because he has failed to stop drinking! He will eventually kill someone.

  4. How can the county afford to insure any work vehicle thus guy drives after one ovi dui dwi or what ever you want to call it.
