The third time’s the charm for Bikini Kill whose sold out Cleveland Agora show Sunday night finally happened. The long-awaited reunion tour of lead singer Kathleen Hanna, drummer Tobi Vail, and bassist Kathi Wilcox was originally scheduled for 2020, but was rescheduled a few more times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “Sorry we scheduled this like three years ago!” Hanna sheepishly quipped, “but thank you to everyone who had to take off work or hire a babysitter to come out tonight and give us a second chance.” Fans who held onto their tickets and packed the Agora were more than willing to forgive and forget as the trio launched into their 24-song riot grrrl setlist including crowd favorites “Double Dare Ya,” “Carnival,” and “Suck My Left One.”
“I don’t know if we introduced ourselves yet… but we are Bikini Kill,” joked Hanna before closing the night out with riot grrrl anthem, “Rebel Girl”.
Cleveland’s own eclectic Donkey Bugs opened the night with its own brand of punk razzmatazz.
