Built in 1886, the Mansfield Reformatory was intended to be a milestone in prison reform but reports of abuse, murder, torture, and suicides tarnished its reputation and ultimately forced its closure in 1990. However, some say, there are prisoners who never left. Paranormal experiences have been reported by folks brave enough to enter and include hearing unexplained footsteps, voices, or sounds. Others report being pushed by an unknown entity or hearing cells slam shut. Thanks to several photographers who’ve shared their photos on Flickr, here are a few eerie photos to enjoy. For those of you who’ve made the trip down to Mansfield to catch thrills for yourselves, what kind of haunted experiences have you had?
