Concert Photos: Insane Clown Posse Drown Agora Crowd in Faygo, Weed and Light

Erstwhile Michigan natives Insane Clown Posse took over the Agora last night and drowned it in a tsunami of Faygo Cola, weed, and a light show that consumed the packed-to-the-rafters assembly of juggalos, the passionate fanbase of the rap/performance art ensemble.

Taking the stage after four (4!) support acts warmed up the crowd, the duo (accompanied by a bevy of demonic-looking clowns) segued between song lyrics and launching hundreds of two-liter bottles of Faygo Cola into the crowd, which made for a sticky, high-fructose corn syrup evening. I’ll bet the staff at the Agora are still cleaning up the mess.

Believe it or not, this duo has been around since the late 1980s, building a rabid following at their elaborately-staged shows. And by elaborate, I mean a truckload of soda, stacked and replenished by stagehand clowns throughout the show.

The concert itself was fairly brief, not much more than an hour. But the crowd didn’t seem bothered by its brevity; most of the assembly near the barricade made their way onstage for the finale: a lightshow punctuated by sticky, soda-drenched concertgoers who left the packed confines of the GA area, climbing over the barricade, to the elbow-to-elbow confines of a packed stage. Any security guards nightmare…

But to the delight of everyone involved.
