4/8-10: Aisha Tyler at Hilarities

Aisha Tyler is a professional entertainment dabbler. The versatile talent has hosted Talk Soup and the reality dating series The Fifth Wheel. The Dartmouth alum has filled in on At the Movies, had guest spots on Friends, 24 and Nip/Tuck, and was the female voice in “Slow Jamz,” the 2003 single featuring Twista, Kanye West and Jamie Foxx. She’s also a stand-up comic. “I’ve always been very passionate about comedy,” she says. “I enjoy acting, but if the roles and other opportunities dried up, there’s always stand-up. I learned that during the writer’s strike. I did stand-up, and I challenged myself a great deal. It’s a wonderful art form.” The 39-year-old San Francisco native spins yarns mostly about her personal life onstage. “I talk about what I know,” she says. “I talk about being married and having kids. I talk about coming to the realization that some members of our families are crazy and should be pushed off a bridge.” Tyler performs through Saturday at Hilarities (2035 E. 4th St., 216.736.4242). Showtimes are 8 tonight, and 7:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday. Tickets: $20-$23. — Ed Condran
