9/26: Teddy Bear Day at the Zoo

So your kid won’t leave the house without his stuffed teddy bear/panda/ tiger/koala. And it’s making you crazy, because he keeps leaving it somewhere, then melting down and then you have to go back and find it. You can actually reap a benefit from all this today: The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo (3900 Wildlife Way, 216.661.6500) is letting kids in for free with a paid adult admission ($10). Better still, there’ll be activities designed for teddy and his owner, starting with teddy-bear “check-ups” by “official teddy-bear doctors” at 10 a.m. and teddy-bear parades at 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 that end up in the Northern Trek area where the zoo’s bears live. There, bear keepers will talk about how the zoo cares for its bear collection, one of the largest in North America. There’ll also be games, costume characters and face painters drawing bears on kids’ cheeks. It all happens from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. — Anastasia Pantsios
