Halloween comes a few weeks early at the weekly
Haunted Cleveland Ghost Tours, which kick off a new season tonight. The guided trips take guests to some of the city’s spookiest spots. It all starts at the William G. Mather steamship -- which caught fire, harbored deadly diseases, and hosted various other tragic events back in the day. Other stops include a Bratenahl home overseen by a dead butler and a mass grave that houses 250 passengers of a sunken boat.
But owner Chuck Gove is most excited about a pair of eerie castles on the itinerary: Franklin and Squire’s. “People have been so spooked, they haven’t been back on the tour -- and that includes a Cleveland cop,” says Gove, who encourages visitors to bring cameras -- just in case any spirits show up.
