NewsChannel 5’s Lee Jordan hosts a pre-run rally, which includes a performance by local singer-songwriter Kate Voegele. There’s also a kids’ tent featuring crafts and other hands-on activities. Plus, all runners receive a commemorative T-shirt and goody bag.
This year’s route winds downtown and passes many area landmarks -- where bands, dancers, and others will pump up participants with their music and moves. It’s all about raising consciousness, says founder Gretchen Nock. “Be aware of symptoms, and receive appropriate medical care,” she says. “Have a voice in the doctor’s office.”
