This week’s top arts and entertainment picks around town, from the guy who’s paid to pick them: Monday: Sure, Saturday’s loss was tough. But LeBron and the boys have a chance to rebound at tonight’s game against the Nets. The latest Official Cavaliers Watch Party takes place at Buffalo Wild Wings in Strongsville. You know the drill by now: The Cavalier Girls, prizes, and special guests cheer on the team, while you watch the action go down on ginormous TV screens. The game starts at 7 p.m. The party kicks off at 6.
Tuesday: The XMKiDS Traveling Roadshow rolls into town with on-air personalities Kenny Curtis, Jinx, and Absolutely Mindy. I have no idea who they are, but satellite-radio-listening kids apparently do. The show broadcasts live from the Balloon Bus (hopefully, it won’t float away). The bus stops at the Wal-Mart in Brooklyn at 3 p.m. with lotsa goodies for the little ones.
Wednesday: Comedian Greg Morton was an animator on M.C. Hammer’s hammerific Hammerman cartoon back in the early ’90s. Lately, he’s been hard at work on a new cartoon series. He’s also touring stand-up clubs around the country, performing such signature bits as his popular Star Wars routine, in which he reenacts the entire movie — including most of the sound effects. He plays the Improv at 8 p.m.
Thursday: A Tasteful Affair features more than 20 local restaurants dishing up their most delectable cuisine. Look for tempting eats from Gypsy Beans, West Park Station, and Don’s Lighthouse. Budweiser, Jacob’s Creek, and Pepsi help wash it all down. Plus, there’s the first-ever Iron Fork competition! It starts at 7 p.m. at Windows on the River.
Friday: Porcupine Tree frontman Steve Wilson rails against television, video games, and “download culture” on the band’s new CD, Fear of a Blank Planet. Its six songs are tied together in a 51-minute suite. Yes, Fear of a Blank Planet is a prog-rock record. Expect plenty of synths, strings, and head-spinning rhythms when the band plays House of Blues at 7 p.m. –Michael Gallucci
