If DJs Joe & Dave learned one thing at their weekly karaoke sessions at Bar Louie, it’s that American Idol has deluded even the most abysmal singers into thinking they have talent. “I have heard the worst of the worst,” says Joe Ploviak. “I’ve no doubt in my mind that I have heard the William Hung of karaoke.” Despite the off-key singing, the duo’s karaoke nights attract hundreds of Chris Daughtry and Jordin Sparks wannabes. Each week, up to four dozen singers stand on a makeshift stage and belt out tunes from a selection of 25,000 tracks. “We don’t care how bad of a singer you are,” says Ploviak, “as long as you’re having fun.”
