Playground World usually teems with tumblin tots who frolic on the venues indoor slides and swings. Today, theyll also get a few tips at Kids Health & Safety Day. We get so many kids in here, and I wanted to do something fun and informative to get the word out about being safe and healthy, says Angela Barbarino, the centers administrative assistant. With computers and TVs, nobodys active anymore. Targeted at children from two to eight years old, the program features demonstrations by the Chesterland police and fire departments, as well as a visit from the Geauga County Sheriffs Departments K-9 unit. Plus, a local dentist offers teeth tips, while Gymboree the Clown greets visitors. Theres even something for Mom and Dad: Parents can throw their names into a hat for a chance to win tickets for Lake Farmpark, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Lolly the Trolley. Barbarino will also hand out bike helmets to the first 200 kids. If they walk away with safety tips and they actually use them, Ill be happy.
