This is the part of C-Notes where we let a band speak for itself, often because it's Monday morning and the caffeine has yet to kick in. This week, homegrown funk-soul sensations Winslow.

Band: Winslow.

Website: Winslowsoul.com or Myspace.com/winslowsoul.

Hometown: Kent/Akron.

Sounds Like: Soul rock funkin' goodness.

Fun Fact: We were named after Winslownious, the Greek God of Funk. Wait, he didn't exist? Oh, well, that's all we've got.

Playing: Wednesday, opening for Incubus at Time Warner Cable Amphitheater.

Why You Should Come See Them: Because we're sexy. Too much? Honestly, its because we work hard to musically play at an extremly high level while still putting on a hell of a stage show. People expect a soul
band to be lame onstage, but we do our best to rock harder than the rock bands. And because we're sexy. —singer Maurice Martin
