27 of the Best Spots for Lunch in Downtown Cleveland

As workers continue return to downtown Cleveland, they'll find a lunch landscape with many familiar spots, a host of newcomers that have opened since the pandemic began, and, sadly, some favorites that have since shuttered. There are plenty of great options whether you're in need of something quick or a sit-down affair, with sushi, tacos, subs, bowls, wraps and more to get you through your workday. Here are some of our favorites.

Otani Noodle
234 Euclid Ave., ClevelandOtani Noodle, from the same owners of long-standing Mayfield Heights hibachi restaurant Otani, recently took over their Euclid space and if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. The tonkatsu broth they use for their ramen is delectable.

Zaytoon
1150 Huron Rd., ClevelandDavid Ina, the son of the owners of Al’s Deli, worked at his family restaurant to gain experience before opening his own place down the street. Zaytoon specializes in Lebanese food like fattoush and shwarma.

1800 Euclid Ave. #3, ClevelandIf you’re looking for a heartier lunch, look no further then this barbecue joint in The Arcade for some delicious 16 hour smoked brisket and one of the best Polish Boys in town.

Danny’s Deli
1658 St Clair Ave. NE., ClevelandOver the years, Danny’s has certainly carved out (get it) its spot amongst the contenders for best corned beef in town. And if you want a sandwich that is as big as your head, go for the Jawbreaker reuben. They dare you.

Johnny’s Little Bar
614 Frankfort Ave., ClevelandRight around the corner from the popular Warehouse district white tablecloth Italian joint Johnny’s, you’ll find Johnny’s Little Bar, an iconic Cleveland spot. The bar boasts a "world famous" burger, giving the traditional Italian menu at the main restaurant a run for its money. And the people watching is outstanding here.

Camino Taco and Tequila Bar
1300 West Ninth St., ClevelandThis contemporary taco and tequila bar, that opened in 2014, fits right into the Warehouse District neighborhood it calls home. This locally owned spot keeps things simple with a streamlined menu that focuses on snacks, small plates and tacos. A great meal can be made just from the starters, paired with a cold Mexican beer or margarita.

1918 East Sixth St., ClevelandWith the recent closing of Cleveland Pickle, Dave’s Cosmic Subs remains as the only local sub shop in downtown Cleveland and with our preference for eating local, Dave’s is the place.

With locations at Reserve Square and Tower City, this soup, sandwich and salad spot is the perfect place to grab a quick and tasty lunch downtown. They often have creative specials like their chicken tikka masala soup pictured here.
