New Club Expected Next Season Behind Home Plate at Progressive Field

The Indians announced Phase 2 of the Progressive Field upgrades today, including plans for a new club that will be located behind home plate.

"[The club] will feature a full bar, access to the new concessions options, a customer service center and a glass front for viewing the game. The club will be available for season-ticket holders in the Diamond Box and Field Box Front sections, and will remain open after games to provide a way to let traffic clear before leaving," Jordan Bastion writes for MLB.com. The plan seems modeled after The Corner, a bar located in the new Right-Field District.

Phase 2 plans also include an extension of the changes made in center and right field "throughout the main concourse" and new local speciality concessions around the ballpark. 

"First and foremost, we're looking to open up the concourse," Andrew Miller, the Indians' senior VP of strategy and business analytics, told MLB.com. "We're going to open up the concourse as much as we can behind home plate and behind third base and create the club directly behind home plate. The concept is to provide an exclusive area to those fans, as well as create more openness for fans walking in the concourse."

Gate C, which is located along East 9th Street (along right-center field), was opened up dramatically and has received some really great feedback from the fans all year. It's that sort of openness that the organization is going all in on.
