Born in Toledo, Ohio, R&B star Anita Baker grew up in Detroit, where she began singing in her church choir. In the 1980s, she signed a major record deal and would have a series of hit albums and songs that resulted in multiple Grammy wins.

Now, Baker is calling it a day with her Farewell Concert Series. The tour comes to the State Theatre next month.

Concerts take place on Nov. 16 and 17.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

  1. Did her family own Baker’s Keyboard Lounge at Eight Mile and Livernois?
