It was a warm summer night in Cuyahoga Falls at the beautiful outdoor venue. A slight rain cascaded over the crowd. The pavilion was full, and the lawn was littered with people ready to dance the night away covering every inch of grass.
Arizona, hailing from New Jersey unlike their name would lead you to believe, took the stage to kick off a night full of nostalgia. Playing songs across their three albums, including the recently released self-titled Arizona in 2023, these guys shook up the stage and got the energy flowing for the main acts of Yellowcard and Third Eye Blind. From ripping guitar riffs to some bonified vocals, supported by the bass from the drums and keys, the crowd couldn’t help but dance along.
Ryan Key and mates needed no introduction. As soon as you hear their opening melody, you cannot mistake it is Yellowcard, which started out their set with ‘Lights and Sounds.’ Coming off an amazing 20-year reunion tour last year for Ocean Avenue, the guys are back in support of their most recent EP Childhood Eyes, released in July 2023. With a commanding stage presence, and beautiful light show and staging elements, the energy flowed through the entire set, echoed by the audience singing along to many tunes from their youth. Yellowcard has a way of transporting us right back in time to a place where life was much simpler.
No tour name is more fitting for Stephan Jenkins than ‘Summer Gods.’ The man is a legend. With a career spanning nearly 30 years with the release of their self titled album in 1997, Third Eye Blind have solidified themselves as music greats. Playing ballads across their entire discography, and breaking out into what felt like a campfire drum circle for several songs, 3EB was sure to keep the crowd guessing what was coming next. A mysterious set list echoed by the dark and moody stage lighting, swept the audience off into the night. As the evening came to a close, Jenkins and mates finished the set off with the crowd pleasers, allowing the audience to sing along shouting at the top of their lungs.
