Formed in Leeds in 1980, The Sisters of Mercy achieved early underground fame, with the band experiencing a commercial breakthrough in the mid-1980s and sustaining their success until the early 1990s when they halted the release of new records in protest against their record company, WEA.
The current band line up consists of Andrew Eldritch– vocals, keyboards, guitars, drums; Ben Christo – guitars, backing vocals, bass; Kai – guitars, backing vocals; Chris Catalyst – guitars, backing vocals; Doktor Avalanche operator. The band has been touring for 44 years now and dazzled fans with songs from each of their seven albums across a 17-song set with two encores.
The band opened the show with a smoke filled stage and Eldritch didn’t talk to the crowd at any point. It was straight-up music for 90 minutes. Here’s all the action we caught.
