A trifecta of disparately different bands took the stage at the MGM Northfield over the weekend for a trip back to the early ’90s.
Gunnar and Matthew Nelson, the offspring of teen heartthrob Ricky Nelson, opened the show with a short 30-minute acoustic set. Paying tribute to their famous father, they closed with “Garden Party,” Ricky Nelson’s giant middle finger to success.
Always a great harmonic duo, they warmed up the thousand-or-so people in attendance.
Lita Ford and her band then came out after a half-hour reset. Offering a 40-minute set, she hit all the high notes of her career, ending with “Cherry Bomb,” The Runaways’ signature tune, and then encored with “Kiss Me Deadly.”
After another stage reset, headliners Warrant played a brisk 75-minute show, replete with strobes and a heavy dose of shredding.
Frontman Robert Mason strutted across the stage looking like a glammed-out version of Anne Rice’s Lestat.
