Happy 70th Anniversary, Pat's in the Flats

A little Facebook post from the always reliable Cleveland Softball pals pointed out that the venerable Pat's in the Flats is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. "Congratulations to Patricia Hanych and her family, celebrating 70 years in business for Pats in the Flats! Pat has been through 20 burglaries, 3 holdups and being picketed by the NAACP. She's a Cleveland OG and someone who makes this city great. Thanks again for hosting our Captain's meetings."

Haven't been? Oh, you should. Here's our blurb from Best of Cleveland 2002 (we've been on the Pat's train forever) if you're a newbie looking to get acquainted.

Located right where oblivion meets the railroad tracks, Pat's offers a patio view of the true Cleveland landscape: hulking white industrial tanks, steel mills, and big honking piles of gravel. Pat's regulars are so devoted, they've outlasted much of the heavy industry in the Flats/Tremont area. They like their beer and conversation unpretentious, their eggs over easy, and their bands hard rockin'. Heck, they're even allowed to book their favorite musicians to perform on weekend nights. This place is more familiar than many living rooms, maybe because it has more TV channels.
