Lord of the Rings Blu-ray tops this week's picks

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy

The greatest movie trilogy of all time (sorry, Star Wars fans) finally comes to Blu-ray. The nine-disc box includes theatrical cuts of all three films (boo!), more than seven hours of bonus material (yay!) and digital copies so you can watch them whenever you need a Frodo fix. And they look fantastic. Gollum, elves and Middle-earth burst from the screen like never before.

Final Fantasy XIII

(Square Enix)

The latest chapter in the long-running geektastic RPG series (for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) isn't as exhaustive as past outings, but it's more accessible than almost any other Final Fantasy game. The battles especially have newfound spark to them. And the story — the usual genre stuff with demons and sword-wielding babes — is easy to follow this time.

I love my iPod Touch. If I were allowed to marry it, I would. Seriously. But I hate looking at videos on it since my hand cramps after holding it a few minutes. This cool new gadget keeps your Touch, Nano or iPhone upright and stationary so you can watch Lord of the Rings without feeling like you spent three hours in hand-to-hand combat with Dark Lord Sauron.

Undead: The Vampire Collection

(Mill Creek)

Twilight's bloodsuckers look like total candy-asses next to the vampires in the 20 (yes, 20) movies stuffed into this four-disc box. Horror icons Christopher Lee and Bela Lugosi are here, but the best movies (not all in top quality, by the way) are the ones you never heard of, like Horrible Sexy Vampire, Vampire's Night Orgy and The Werewolf vs. Vampire Women.

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 Special Editions

(Walt Disney)

Just in time for this summer's Toy Story 3, Pixar's landmark 1995 film and its 1999 sequel finally come to Blu-ray. And they look spectacular in HD. There's a ton of cool extras, including deleted scenes, commentary by director John Lasseter and a peek at 3. The Combo Packs come with DVD and digital copies, so you'll never be far from Woody, Buzz and the aliens.
